Our academic schdule is enhanced by our specials: Art, Music, Spanish and Physical Education.
Art (Kindergarten-8th grade)
An important element of our fine arts program, Prince of Peace School students receive a weekly art class. This program focuses on expanding imaginations and creativity while also teaching them about some of the world’s greatest artists, artistic methods, art history and how to create art using different mediums. Art appreciation is stressed in all aspects of this program. During the first part of the school year, students and the instructor work together to create wonderful auction items for Pizzazz, our annual school fundraiser. Throughout the school year, the instructor enters our students’ art into various competitions against other grade school children, and artwork from each student is highlighted during Prince of Peace’s annual fine arts fest.
Music (Pk-8th grade)
As part of Prince of Peace School’s fine arts program, students receive weekly music classes during the school year. They are taught methods, songs and even musical instruments, including the recorder and hand drums. There are annual Christmas and spring concerts where the school community gathers to rejoice and celebrate through music.
Physical Education (Kindergarten-8th grade)
This program provides an outlet for our students' energy twice a week. It also gives them a framework of knowledge about teamwork and sportsmanship. Establishing good habits of exercise and eating are presented. Communication about personal safety is stressed. Practice in playing games and learning the rules also reinforce self-confidence.
Spanish (Kindergarten-8th grade)
To round out the fine arts program, Prince of Peace School provides students with a weekly foreign language class. Studies show that teaching a foreign language to children is beneficial, and that young learners tend to pick up different languages quickly. In our students, it also opens their minds to learn new words/concepts and provides them with a practical skill that will help them communicate more easily with an increasing number of people. Additionally, students learn about regions and countries that speak Spanish, including customs, food, landmarks and more
